When Kitt Doherty left the convention floors of Vancouver and headed East she finally had enough money to hire legal representation and rid herself of at least two murder charges leveled against her by Lieutenant Dekker, a key operative for the DEA. On her way back to Hamilton, to unravel the mystery and track down a missing witness, she decided to drop by and see her old girl friend, Sincerity Trone, for a brief visit. Unfortunately, neither trip nor visit devolved as planned and the trip to Hamilton turns into flight--up Bridal Veil Canyon--"The Valley of No Return".
Forty years previous, Michael O'Shea had dropped Rose Reilly at the 14th street Dock at Indian River and bade her farewell. She had returned to the Maples, Long Island, NYC and enjoyed a successful career in modeling, cosmetics and professional photography. After a string of deaths, she too has returned to Indian River to settle some "unfinished business".
Jason Manyberries, Metis surgeon, has entered the forbidden canyon to gather herbs for traditional native medicine. He too has challenged the legends and must now pay the price.
In 1940, Michael O'Shea, late of County Galway, Ireland had arrived in Indian River, looking for a less hazardous climate in which to settle, only to become enmeshed in a war of a different sort that left effects that still linger forty years later.
All of these characters, all of their issues and all their hopes could resolve in Bridal Veil, above the falls except for one slight problem--it is currently on fire...
History, action, murder, romance and abundant humor combine to enthrall the reader with all the lovable characters from "To Catch a Trone", carrying the never ending story to new levels of enjoyment.

Clarrisa spoke intensely. "Its my favorite place on earth. I have that book right on my nightstand. When I was sick with Leukemia, I always took that book out and Id look at those pictures and tell myself thats the place I wanted to go, instead of heaven. I used to pretend that I could move right into the picture, like Alice in Wonderland."
Michael considered her words. "Its the kind of place you could do that sort of thing."
"If the cancer comes back, I want to be cremated and get dumped into those beautiful stones below the falls. I want to go down in the deep channels and be with the rest."
"The rest?"
"Rick Trone and the Indians whom they drowned here. Its the most romantic spot on earth. To me, its the place where all tragedies must end."

They hollered, they shouted and they
screamed and in the final moments they shrieked as the wall of fire grew and advanced
toward them then leaned over as the flames began to generate their own wind. They began to
feel the air rushing past them as it fed into the fire and the flames began to crackle
distinctly as the bush and swamp glowed brightly, illuminating the entire eastern flank.
He felt his skin begin to shrivel and he raised his arms painfully to protect his face as long as possible.
Then she was there.
She appeared from nowhere, clearly silhouetted against the fire, as she flicked the nozzle about to lay down a barrier. He saw she was on air and her shield was down as she walked toward the flames and began her attempt to open a hole. She turned and fogged them with a jet of cooling water then turned back to the fire.Rainy saw his jacket steam as the water evaporated and then she turned and did them again. Soon the flames towered far above her head, but she still confronted them as they closed around her, seeming to swallow her.

Suddenly, a house exploded into flames
along its entire roof and she shrieked involuntarily. She pulled the machine off the
ground and started to go toward some trees then thought better of it, just as they
exploded into flame. She lifted and backed around to the other side of the town looking
for people on the streets. The turbine started to die, this time seriously, and she headed
back toward the lake, putting on oxygen and bursting into perspiration from the heat
through the abundant Perspex. Finally, she ended the run along the lakeshore before she
regained full power and crabbed along the edge seeking a zone where she might creep back
into town. Suddenly, several people came into the street as several more houses burst into
flame, the shingles on the roof, almost oozing into flaming tar. She gasped and backed
away then tried to come down to the people. Immediately, the turbine died and she realized
that it had almost flamed out as she struggled to gain altitude and headed back to the
lake. When she regained power and came back higher and nearer to the lake, she could see
into the street. Seven people lay in the street and the houses on both sides, the weeds
around the houses, and the fences were a mass of flames. Dust billowed in the street as
the air rushed to feed the new fire. She realized then that the entire place needed only
oxygen to explode and she began to weep as she backed over the lake. The child turned to
her in horror. Five more houses burst into flames simultaneously as the fire and smoke
ended a backdraft and fresh air swept in.

We recommend that before one reads Shadows of Bridal Veil that one should read the first novel in the series - "To Catch a Trone". The characters would be more meaningful since the story line continues. Check for package pricing on the two epic novels.
